A mother-to-be has died after suffering an epileptic fit while taking a bath.

Megan Walsh was pulled from the tub at her friend's home in New South Wales, Australia "cold" and "lifeless" this week, according to reports.

Her friend frantically tried to perform CPR but Ms Walsh (19) went into cardiac arrest and later died in hospital.

She was 14 weeks pregnant and friends said she was so excited that she was already looking at baby names.

The friend who discovered Ms Walsh told 9News she opened the bathroom door after her knocks went unanswered.

"I open the door and there she is lifeless in my bathtub. Cold, white, unresponsive, not breathing, blue lips, dead weight.

"It was traumatising," she added.

Ms Walsh was diagnosed with epilepsy at four and now her family are desperately trying to raise money to help others. A gofundme page has been created and almost AUS$3,000 has been raised by the family.

Older sister Jemma said: "Having had epilepsy for most of her life, we would like to raise a bit of cash to donate in honour of Meg to Epilepsy Action Australia."
