A British man has been accused of secretly photographing a large number of women in changing rooms in Australia.

The man (28), who is in Australia on a working visa, was arrested on Saturday afternoon in a swimwear store in Queensland.

Police say they believe the man took secret photographs of up to 49 women, the BBC report.

They also allege that videos and more than 100 photographs of women getting undressed were found on his phone and on a private Facebook group.

Another shopper reported the man to police when she saw him "holding a phone above a fitting room cubicle".

He has now been charged with 49 counts of recording in breach of privacy nd is due in court today.

A police spokeswoman has asked any women that may have been in changing rooms at Noosa Civic or Sunshine Plaza between November 18 and December 10 to come forward.

They are also appealing for any witnesses.
