CCTV captures woman's narrow escape as she's dragged out the way of an oncoming train

Dramatic CCTV footage has been released showing a woman being saved from rail tracks, just moments before a train arrives at a station in Melbourne.

The footage shows the woman walking across the tracks on Tuesday and attempting to climb up to the platform.

Three police officers rush to help her - and manage to pull her up only seconds before a train comes rushing into the station.

The woman did not receive any serious injuries.

Australia has seen many incidents similar to this in recent times and nobody yet has died as a result, according to Public Transport Users Association spokesman Daniel Bowen.

"Platform screen doors are difficult to fit retrospectively, which is why they are being fitted on new lines like the Melbourne Metro for example, but not on existing stations," he told Channel 7.

"The idea is new in Australia, but in certain parts of Europe and Asia they have retrospectively fitted screen doors."
