Atheist 'unlicensed'

A New Jersey woman has filed a lawsuit, claiming the state rejected her application for a licence plate proclaiming she is an atheist.

Shannon Morgan filed the suit claiming the state violated her rights by rejecting a plate reading "8THEIST". She said plates reading "BAPTIST" have been approved.

DEATH BY LIONS OR FIRE?

A mother described the "dilemma" she faced after her car burst into flames in a lion enclosure.

Helen Clements was visiting Longleat Safari Park with her son George (9) and daughter Charlie (12) on Good Friday when their car went on fire. Ms Clements (43), from Gloucestershire, said she sounded the horn to alert rangers, adding: "It was – what do you do? Do you get out because you're on fire? And they're telling you to get back in, that was the dilemma."

DEL TACO BILL SPICED UP

What was supposed to be a cheap bite at Del Taco turned out to be small fortune for southern California customers.

150 people who ate at the Santa Paula branch were mistakenly charged thousands of dollars for burritos and tacos. A Del Taco spokesman said the glitch affected card transactions. All charges will be refunded.

TEACHERS' SPY CLAIMS

UK Schools are using CCTV cameras designed to keep pupils safe to spy on teachers.

Teachers are being subjected to "permanent surveillance", with school chiefs monitoring footage and using it to judge staff performance, say unions. Teachers say they cannot turn off the cameras.

BEAUTIES HAVE FAT LEGS

They are sex symbols idolised by millions but Beyonce, Rihanna and Kim Kardashian have fat legs, according to catty actor Rupert Everett.

The stage and screen star, (54) said: "I grew up with the ideal of female beauty being delicate with long, slim legs. Now it's terribly 'in' for women to have these huge great legs with massive thighs," he moaned.

MY JOB IS BEING NOSEY

Lynn Barber said she has had a "wonderful life being an interviewer" but made a career out of being nosy.

"My schoolfriends thought I had a magical ability to get secrets out of people. But if you say 'Everyone is dying to know if you went out with so-and-so and what was he like?' they're usually so flattered by your interest, they'll tell you. And so this became my career," she said.
