At least 14 killed in blaze at shop selling paraffin in India
At least 14 people have been killed in a fire that broke out in a shop selling paraffin, police in India said.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Madhya Pradesh state's top elected official, confirmed that the blaze broke out in the Chhindwara district, central India.
The Times of India newspaper reported that about 25 people were inside the shop when the fire started and that more were lined up outside to buy fuel and food. In India paraffin is used as a cooking fuel.
The fire quickly spread to nearby shops and fire crew battled to get it under control.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
