VIDEO: Father leaves baby unattended in train station to knock 'friend' unconscious Newsdesk Newsdesk

A man in Australia has been jailed after he was caught on cctv leaving his young child alone in a pram in order to knock a friend unconscious during a drunken row.

The man, who cannot be named, can be been seen leaving his nine-month-old child alone near a set of stairs in a railway station in order to chase after a friend and repeatedly punch him in the head.

He then slowly walks back to his child after leaving his friend out cold on the ground.

He then can be seen returning to his unconscious friend after another man arrives, again leaving his child alone. He rolls the unconscious man over in an attempt to revive him. He then pulls out the victim's wallet and looks through it.

The video was recently shown in court, but the incident itself took place on December 27, 2014 at Thirroul railway station in New South Wales.

The father has been jailed for at least eight months and fined $2,000.

The man's defense lawyer said he was deeply ashamed of his actions and has since successfully completed an alcohol rehabilitation course.

After the verdict, an appeal was lodged against the sentence and the man was released on bail in the meantime.
