Australian PM knits present for royal baby
JOHN McTernan, once one of Tony Blair's political advisers, is assumed to be the brain behind a bizarre photo shoot featuring Julia Gillard, Australia's prime minister.
Ms Gillard posed for the magazine 'Women's Weekly' sitting in a gaudily embroidered armchair, knitting.
The text discloses that she is knitting a little kangaroo, as a present for the baby who is shortly to be born to the Kate Windsor.
One of the many oddities about the shoot is that Ms Gillard declared that when the reign of the queen ends, Australia should become a republic. (© Independent News Service)
