You can now mail your cremated remains to the Republican party
That’s one way to get your point across.
A website allowing users to make arrangements for their ashes to be sent to the Republican party has been created.
Zoey Jordan Salsbury created mailmetothegop.com in reaction to the Republican congress passing the first stage of the American Healthcare Act, which strips out much of Obama’s healthcare provisions for US citizens.
The bill was put to a vote before it was scored by the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, which measures how many would be left without healthcare, and was voted on by some congressmen who said they had not read all of it.
I made a website for sick people to send their ashes to a GOP member of congress because of this tweet: https://t.co/AKac7UgroH— Zoey Jordan Salsbury (@zoeyjsalsbury) May 4, 2017
The website reads: “Millions of Americans rely on protections and coverage from the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare. The Republicans new bill will gut these protections and many will die.
“They deserve to know it. Fill out our form and we’ll help you get papers in order to send your ashes to a GOP member of Congress if you pass.”
The website also asks visitors to give reasons why the legislation, currently being considered by the Senate, would be harmful to them.
Many of the responses referred to a section of the bill which would allow insurers to raise premium for people deemed to have “pre-existing medical conditions”. Examples include pregnancy and those who have received treatment for sexual assault or domestic violence.
One visitor wrote: “I have cancer which is a pre-existing condition as per the new bill. You are murderers. Every one of you that voted to repeal ACA. I hope you too have to choose between death and going into debt one day soon.”
