Yorkshire - 'more jobs than France'
More jobs were created in Yorkshire last year than the whole of France, employment minister Esther McVey has claimed.
She made the remark during work and pensions questions in the Commons today.
Conservative Philip Davies (Shipley) asked her to ensure that job centres always support job fairs s o jobseekers are aware they are taking place.
Ms McVey said Tory MPs were putting their Labour counterparts to shame by organising events such as the one held in Mr Davies's constituency before making the claim about France.
Later in the session, Ms McVey mumbled "oops a daisy" as she realised she had turned to the wrong page to answer a subsequent question.
