Women taking photos on M6 removed
A group of women have been escorted to a police station after they were spotted taking photos on one of UK's busiest motorways.
West Midlands Police said it received "numerous calls" at 11am about three women "posing for photos on the M6", today.
Traffic officers arrived to find the group had got out of a vehicle on the hard shoulder of the slip road which leads from the A38M Aston Expressway at Birmingham to junction six of the M6 northbound.
It is not known why the vehicle had stopped.
A spokesman for the force said: "Police received numerous calls at around 11am regarding a group of women seen out of a vehicle on the hard shoulder of the slip road.
"Officers have been sent to the location and the three women have been escorted off the motorway by police."
In a comment from the police's official force contact centre Twitter account, West Midlands Police added: "999 calls stating there are three females stopped and are posing for photos on the M6.
"I know the M6 is pretty but this could be dangerous!!"
With the help of Highways Agency, police safely removed the women, taking them to a police station for a "debrief", according to the force.
