Wine lovers offered tipple tip cash
Wine-loving holidaymakers are being given the chance to earn enough money for next year's trip in the sun by recommending a tipple they discover abroad.
"The Listing" enables consumers to earn money from wines they have recommended to Oddbins, which is behind the idea, if the retailer goes on to stock and sell them.
Consumers will earn a commission of up to 10% on every bottle sold - potentially adding up to hundreds of pounds.
A wine-tasting team will pick the best suggestions and if they go down as enjoyably in the confines of a London tasting room as they did on a sun-dappled Tuscany terrace, they will list the wine on the company website and sell it in its 34 branches nationwide.
The launch of The Listing follows a national survey by the firm revealing 84% of customers became smitten by a wine while on holiday and would love to be able to buy it back at home.
Managing director Ayo Akintola said: "Almost every day someone walks into a wine shop to see whether they can buy a wine they enjoyed on holiday. Almost always the answer is a 'sorry, no but we have this instead...'.
"So we are doing something about it and what's more, if we do list the wine, we are going to be paying our customers for every bottle sold."
The company's new look website also allows wine lovers to buy a single bottle unlike other retailers who impose a minimum six or 12 bottle order.
