Tetley 'tea folk' set for comeback
A tea firm has branded today Brew Monday as it announces the return of a family used to advertise its products.
Tetley said its "tea folk", led by Gaffer the governor, Sydney his assistant and trusty Tina, were returning after a four-year tea break after demands from customers.
The family first appeared 40 years ago, and will return next weekend, retaining its northern sense of humour.
Tetley Marketing Director Amy Holdsworth said; "Since their inception over four decades ago, the Tetley tea folk have become a true British institution."
A survey of 2,000 adults by Tetley to mark the return of the tea folk family, showed that many felt miserable in January because of money worries, bad weather or stress at work, leading to the emergence of the term Blue Monday to describe some days of the month.
