Sir Roger given a licence to chill
James Bond fans hoping to see more Moore will be disappointed after Sir Roger said he was "hanging my safari suit back in the wardrobe".
The veteran actor offered his services after current Bond, Daniel Craig, reportedly injured his knee while filming a fight scene for the follow-up to Skyfall at Pinewood Studios which left him unable to continue.
Sir Roger, who succeeded Sean Connery as the deadly secret agent, tweeted: " Sorry to hear Daniel Craig has sprained his knee on set #Spectre. Being 007 is not without its hazards. I'm available to step in if needed."
But later told fans: "Ahhh good news: Daniel will be back on set tomorrow. I'm hanging my safari suit back in the wardrobe."
The new film, called Spectre, is being directed by Sam Mendes, returning for a second Bond film, and the cast includes Christoph Waltz and Sherlock star Andrew Scott.
Also set to appear are French actress Lea Seydoux and Italian star Monica Bellucci, while Craig is reprising his role as 007 in his fourth appearance.
The film will be released on November 6.
