Shaun the Sheep in English mission
Animated favourites from the world of Aardman Animations will be used to encourage children to learn English as a new language - even though one of the key characters in the scheme does not speak.
School children across the globe will become familiar with the likes of the mute Shaun the Sheep as part of a partnership between the animator and the British Council.
Children at learning centres in Chile and Singapore will be among the first to take part in the scheme.
British Council director of English Anna Searle said: "The British Council is delighted to be working with Aardman Animations to bring a unique learning experience to early years or younger English learners around the world.
"As such a well-loved and well-respected British institution, Aardman's creativity and innovation combined with our expertise in English language teaching is certain to help children across the globe engage with the English language in a whole new way."
