Police have asked for help to reunite old black and white family photographs found in a shopping centre with their rightful owner

Police have asked for help to reunite old black and white family photographs found in a shopping centre with their rightful owner.

The pictures were found on Saturday in Newcastle's Eldon Square by a member of the public, who handed them to a police officer.

The pictures are thought to be family snaps which appear to date back well into the 20th century.

Police Constable John Loraine said: "The photos are clearly quite old and may be of some sentimental value to the owner.

"I'd ask that anyone with any information into the photographs, or who they might belong to, contacts me by emailing 8215@Northumbria.pnn.police.uk with any details."
