Obama 'unable to attend' jury duty
US President Barack Obama is to skip jury duty after being summoned in Illinois, a White House official has confirmed.
The spokesman said the president alerted the court of his inability to attend three weeks ago.
Obama was summoned for jury duty at the Bridgeview courthouse in suburban Chicago, starting on Monday. The summons had arrived at the Obama home in Chicago.
The president's first State of the Union speech will take place on Wednesday.
