Mexican mayor marries crocodile
Brides can often get a bit snappy on their big day - a nd this crocodile is no exception.
She married the mayor of a Mexican fishing town in a symbolic ceremony that is part of a local tradition.
San Pedro Huamelula resident Eduardo Zarate said: "As young people, this means a lot. It's the greatest treasure our ancestors have left us."
The town's fishermen believe the crocodile is a princess and the wedding ritual will bring plenty of fish for them to catch along the Pacific coast.
The groom, mayor Joel Vasquez Rojas, was delighted at how the day went.
He said: "A group of Marenos (local name for village people) welcomed the officials carrying the animal (crocodile) with fireworks, with excitement because the princess has arrived."
All members of the municipal council are required to contribute to pay for the wedding festivities and those who do not pay their share are fined.
There was probably no first kiss for the newlyweds though - the poor bride had her mouth tied shut.
