A man has been taken to hospital after spending six days up a TV tower in the US.

William Sturdivant, 25, came down on Tuesday night after six days on the Clear Channel communications tower in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Video posted on KTUL-TV's website shows Mr Sturdivant climbing into a lift that was attached to a fire engine and then being brought down to the ground.

Police spokesman Leland Ashley said he was taken to a hospital for treatment for dehydration. He added that Mr Sturdivant will probably be transferred to a mental health facility for observation.

Mr Ashley said he was not sure if the man would face charges after scaling the tower last week. He says the only possible charge would be for trespassing.
