A man has asked his girlfriend to marry him over the large screens at the Farnborough International Airshow (FIA).

Simon Crail and partner Claire Coull, both 30, were treated to a champagne tour of the world's most spacious airliner the A380 after the public engagement at the Hampshire event yesterday.

An FIA spokesman said: "Removal man Simon Crail, 30, got down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend of over two years, Claire Coull. Claire also celebrated her 30th birthday today.

"Simon's proposal was beamed on to the event screens as other air show fans shared in the moment.

"Following Claire's acceptance, the happy couple were treated to a VIP experience by aerospace company Airbus, including an exclusive champagne tour of the world's most spacious airliner the A380 Airbus, which has been on display throughout the show."

The couple, from Farnborough, then enjoyed a five-hour flying spectacular which included aerobatic displays from the Red Arrows, the Breitling Jet Team and The Blades, as well as demonstrations from a variety of commercial and military aircraft, both modern and historic.
