Is the Buckfast Egg the most Scottish thing to happen to Easter?

By Prudence Wade

It’s really dividing opinion.

Do you ever tuck into your Easter egg and think to yourself: sigh, I wish this was just a little bit more Scottish?

Well fear no more, because this off-licence is looking to step your Easter up a notch with its Buckfast-themed Easter egg package. And surprisingly, it comes from Northern Ireland.

D-Bees, in Lurgan, Co Armagh, took more than 2,000 orders within 24 hours of advertising the package, according to owner Derek Brennan.

The package includes a 140g chocolate egg with a miniature 5cl Buckfast bottle as well as a Buckfast-branded pen, lighter and magnet. Yep, we’re not entirely sure why a lighter and magnet count as Easter fare, but they sure make for an interesting addition.

All this could be yours for a mere £9.99 and will start selling online from April 3.

Some people are quite partial to the idea of getting some Buckfast into their normal Easter egg shenanigans.

Maybe there’s just something to do with the nostalgia of Buckfast?

Whereas for others it’s a firm nope.

Someone rightly pointed out the *ahem* egg’s lack of tradition.

Other’s just have no idea how to feel.

Either way, it’s certain to make Easter a little more entertaining.
