The eclipse put Bonnie Tyler back in the spotlight

The near-total solar eclipse over Britain provided a highlight for at least one person - raspy-voiced rocker Bonnie Tyler saw online demand for her hit Total Eclipse Of The Heart more than triple.

Streaming service Spotify said demand for the song - a number one in 1983 - more than tripled following the event this morning when the moon crossed in front of the sun, covering up to 97% of its face.

It is not the first time the track, which has more than 30 million streams on Spotify, has had a sales boost from mother nature - an earlier lunar eclipse saw its streaming demand double.

Tyler, currently touring in Europe, hit the headlines two years ago when she was chosen to represent Britain at the Eurovision Song Contest.

The Welsh star, famous for her power ballads including Holding Out For A Hero, flopped at the contest held in Malmo, Sweden.

Her entry, Believe In Me, finished in 19th place out of a possible 26, in a competition that was eventually won by Danish act Emmelie de Forest.
