Donald Trump spoke to reporters with Rogue One playing in the background
It happened hours before the US launched a cruise missile strike on Syria.
US President Donald Trump spoke to reporters in the press cabin of Air Force One while Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was playing on the screen next to him.
Trump was talking to reporters on board the official government plane hours before the US launched a missile strike on Syria following a suspected chemical weapons attack as characters from the film about a war in outer space appeared next to him.
According to ABC reporter Alex Mallin, journalists forgot to switch off the film when Trump entered to take questions and be photographed – and what resulted is a fairly comical juxtaposition.
The same thing happened with White House press secretary Sean Spicer and some stormtroopers.
And of course, the images were turned into a meme.
Adding to the strangeness of the situation was the serious nature of the subject Trump was discussing. As Rogue One played in the background, he described the chemical attack in Syria as a “disgrace to humanity”.
