Cheeky cyclists have been warned to stay off the Olympic mountain bike course by police.

Officers stressed that members of the public are not elite athletes and should stay off the track.

The site in Hadleigh Farm, Essex, is fenced off and wooden barriers have been put on the course to stop people riding it.

Police warned that it would be dangerous for members of the public to use it because it has been designed to international competition standards.

Police Sergeant Chris Brammel said: "We don't want anyone getting injured in the run-up to the Olympics and we will be patrolling the area at regular intervals."
