Friday the 13th was unlucky for some after gremlins struck at ITV's lunchtime bulletin, taking it off the air without warning.

The broadcaster apologised after viewers were left looking at an ITV logo when the news and weather went off air for around 10 minutes.

The broadcaster tweeted: " We're sorry for those who are experiencing disruption. We're working to fix this asap."

The bulletin came back at around 1.40 when host Nina Hossain apologised for the " loss of transmission".

Viewers were quick to react online, with one tweeting as @Newsfanatic28 saying: "@itvnews is STILL finishing at 13:50pm, even though it was off the air for 5/6 minutes. Friday the 13th isn't their day! #itvnews."

It was good news for one viewer - Sian Goodfellow - who said: " itvnews don't panic about the disruption, my son is dancing along to the music you're playing!"
