Cricket heroes on sticky wicket
England's victorious cricket team celebrated their win over Australia in the Ashes by demonstrating problems with their delivery - apparently urinating all over the wicket.
As the sun went down on their triumph the players celebrated on the Oval pitch with behaviour some might say was more grubby than grubber.
Star players such as Kevin Pietersen, Stuart Broad and Jimmy Anderson will not be bowling many maidens over with their drunken antics.
They reportedly queued up to relieve themselves on the strip while team-mates cheered wildly.
They were all caught out by Australian media who reportedly saw the players' unusual innings after the 23,500 crowd had gone.
A picture tweeted by England's wicket keeper Matt Prior showed the squad sitting on the Oval after dark surrounded by champagne and beer as they savoured their victory over the old enemy, who lost 3-0 after a five-match series this summer.
Malcolm Conn wrote in Australia's Herald Sun: "While the centre of the ground was quite dark, lights were on in the grandstands with dozens of people still cleaning up after a late finish which saw the game go beyond 7.30pm.
"A number of players, including Stuart Broad, Kevin Pietersen and Jimmy Anderson took it in turns urinating on the pitch to the cheers of their team-mates.
"This could be clearly seen from the outside overflow areas of the press box."
The England and Wales Cricket Board was unavailable for comment today.
England's cricketers provided an interesting insight into their well-earned night of celebrations.
As well as Matt Prior's pitch picture, bowler Stuart Broad tweeted a photo of captain Alastair Cook hailing a night bus.
Batsman Kevin Pietersen admitted to a hangover this morning, tweeting: "Morning #ouch #mayday".
