Crash victim found after five days
A Colorado woman is recovering after being stranded in her car for five days after crashing off a rural highway south west of Denver.
Passersby who happened to stop on scenic US Highway 285 near Fairplay spotted the car about 80 feet below in an aspen grove. They hiked down to the vehicle and called authorities.
The Park County Sheriff's Office said 43-year-old Kristin Hopkins was found yesterday inside her upturned car conscious but extremely dehydrated and critically injured.
She was reported missing in Denver on Tuesday, the same day the Colorado State Patrol says her car went off the right side of the road on a curve.
She was last seen leaving work on April 27.
US 285 runs through the scenic South Park area, a valley of sprawling ranch land surrounded by mountains.
