Condom-claim church book corrected
The Italian publisher of a book on Catholic Church teaching has fixed a translation error that implied the Vatican approved of contraception with an insert that stresses traditional church teaching on sex.
YouCat, a youth-focused catechism book, was presented to Pope Benedict XVI at his general audience and was officially launched at a Vatican press conference.
On the eve of the presentation, officials confirmed that Nuova Citta, the Italian publisher of YouCat, had pulled the Italian copies to fix the error, which concerned whether married couples could plan the size of their families.
The editions handed out blocked out the error and included a paper insert with the correct translation.
