Cat detained on illegal mission
Inmates at a Russian prison thought they had found a purr-fect new way to smuggle mobile phones into jail - by using cats as a courier.
Guards patrolling a prison colony in the north of the country saw a feline on the fence and it seemed to be carrying something. Taking a closer look, they found a few mobile phones and chargers taped to the cat's belly.
The federal prison service said that the incident happened on Friday at Penal Colony No 1 near the city of Syktyvkar in the Komi province, some 600 miles north-east of Moscow.
Officials have said it is unclear how the cat was supposed to drop off its loot.
