'Burglar' held after falling asleep

US police officers found a 20-year-old man asleep on a kitchen floor after responding to a burglary call.

The Washington County sheriff's office in Oregon said the homeowner had discovered the sleeping stranger early on Friday.

When officers arrived they found Cristian Villarreal-Castillo, who had small electronic devices believed to be stolen from unlocked vehicles in his pockets, at the home in Rock Creek, Hillsboro.

They reported that areas of the property had been ransacked in an apparent attempt to find valuables.

Officers believe Villarreal-Castillo entered the home through an unlocked door and was in the process of gathering items when he fell asleep.

He is charged with burglary, attempted theft, trespassing and criminal mischief. Investigators also linked him to a burglary that happened a few hours before his arrest.
