Antonio Valencia just scored a goal of the season contender
He almost took the net off.
Manchester United got off to the best possible start against Everton with a truly phenomenal goal.
Antonio Valencia tore up the pitch from right-back to meet a left-footed Nemanja Matic cross, on the half-volley, from outside the area.
And while it’s still only September, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see this one in contention for goal of the season come the end of the year.

To put it in context, here’s where Valencia was when he caught the ball – sending it skewing past Jordan Pickford in the Toffees goal.

It’s fair to say his teammates appreciated it.
And immediately everyone had the same reaction. Awe.

It was the type of goal you can imagine the injury-stricken Paul Pogba scoring.
As well as another famous right-back.

And after doing this, that theory isn’t too far-fetched.
