A force which rejected a trainee police dog that did not like to bite has received more than 300 offers from people wanting to give her a new home.
Vegas the 19-month-old German shepherd was taught to jump through windows, ignore gun shots and bark at command - but when Northumbria Police trainers tried to get her to bite, she was reluctant to show her teeth.
Despite being reluctant to clamp her jaws around would-be attackers' limbs, Vegas is not considered a good family pet as handlers say she is "very nervous" around children.
A plea to find her a good home was issued two days ago and Northumbria Police has received more than 300 calls and emails.
A spokesman said: "Northumbria Police has had an overwhelming response to its appeals to re-home Vegas.
"Staff are now progressing more than 300 calls and emails from generous members of the public who think they can offer Vegas a peaceful and stress-free home.
"As a result, the force is no longer taking any new applications at this time and they are hopeful Vegas will be settling into her new home before too long."
