A woman has been restrained on board a flight from London to Boston after "trying to enter the cockpit", Massachusetts State Police said.

British Airways Flight 213 from Heathrow has since landed at Boston's Logan International Airport.

The airline said initial reports indicate the woman may have tried to open an exit door, while police report she tried to get into the cockpit.

The passenger was restrained and she will be brought into questioning by police.

"Our customers and crew deserve to have a safe and enjoyable flight and we do not tolerate abusive behavior. Our crew have requested that police meet the flight in Boston due to an unruly customer on board," British Airways said in a statement Tuesday.
