A 25-year-old woman from the US recently marked a unique milestone, by turning herself into a human cannonball for the 500th time.

Gemma Kirby from Philadelphia performed her 500th cannonball daredevil stunt this weekend at a Circus XTREME show in Philadelphia

A show spokeswoman, said the female daredevil was dressed in a sparkly silver outfit, and shot out of the cannon at a speed so fast, the act was over in seconds.

“She moved through the air at up to 66 mph and landed safely in an air bag about 32 metres away. Kirby's act took only about 3 seconds,” said spokeswoman Chelsey Scalese.

Kirby is currently travelling and performing with the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey show.

Her unique, breathtaking act was one of many designed to delight audiences. A BMX troupe and parkour performers on trampoline were also featured in the exciting show.
