A POSITIVE story has emerged on a day of tragedy in Oklahoma, after an elderly woman who's home was destroyed by the storm was reunited with her dog

The woman was being interview by a CBS affiliate about the storm, and became upset when she revealed she hadn't seen her beloved dog since they were separated as the tornado tore down her home.

As the woman spoke, a member of the TV crew noticed the dog poking its head through the rubble, attracted by the sound of its owner's voice.

"Well I thought God just answered one prayer to let me be OK, but he answered both of them, because this was my second prayer," the woman cried as she cuddled her beloved pet.

Entire neighbourhoods have been wiped out by one of the most powerful tornadoes in US history.
