A graphic video of a motorcyclist crashing into a dancer (20) was shown in court during a preliminary hearing for a 42-year-old man charged with the crime.

Sikenya Thompson became emotional when the 30 second clip was shown, following her earlier description to the judge as to how the incident has had a lasting impact on her.

Ms Thompson was struck by a speeding motorcyclist as she danced in a parade in Michigan to celebrate her hometown team Draymond Green's NBA championship.

Captured on a mobile phone by an 11-year-old bystander, the footage shows a motorcycle traveling at a high speed strike Thompson as she danced near South Washington and Janes on June 27.

Assistant Prosecutor Joseph Albosta warned Thompson and her family of the graphic nature of the video before showing it.

Thompson suffered two broken ribs, gashes on her legs, foot and chin, and a chipped tooth. She was hospitalized for five days, she said. She still walks with a limp as she continues to suffer from her injuries.

Lavanis Gray has been charged with reckless driving causing serious impairment of a body function.

Thompson was a contestant on "American Idol" last year.
