US abortion doctor's killer gets 50 years
A man who was sentenced to life in prison for murdering one of the few US doctors who performed late-term abortions used his sentencing hearing as a forum to espouse his anti-abortion views yesterday.
Scott Roeder was sentenced to life in prison with no possibility of parole for 50 years, the longest sentence possible under Kansas law for first-degree murder. The 52-year-old killed George Tiller as the doctor was serving as an usher at his Wichita church last May.
"I stopped him so he could not dismember another innocent baby," Roeder said.
