Tee at the White House for world's No 1 golfer

THE leader of the golfing world teamed up with the leader of the free world on Wednesday for a lavish state dinner at the White House.

World No1 Rory McIlroy was among a select few who secured a seat around the White House dinner table for a knees-up with Barack and Michelle Obama.

The pressure was off as the 22-year-old from Hollywood, Co Down, rubbed shoulders with the US commander-in-chief at the blacktie event in honour of British Prime Minister David Cameron.

Among the other 300 guests at the star-studded event was Oscar winner George Clooney, Virgin tycoon Richard Branson, and Apple's Senior Vice- President of industrial design Jonathan Ive.
