Student accused of rape says he was just 'playing' Fifty Shades of Grey
Mohammad Hossain, a student ambassador at the University of Illinois, denies rape on the basis that he was 're-enacting' scenes from Fifty Shades of Grey.
The engineering student is accused of tying a fellow student to his bed, gagging her with a necktie, punching and whipping her before raping her.
The first year student admits to assaulting the woman but claimed it was consensual and that they were 'playing' a scene from the controversial film.
Hossain is alleged to have invited the woman to his room where she consented to strip to her underwear where he proceeded to tie her up. Assistant State's Attorney Sarah Karr told the Cook County Court that when the victim asked him to stop, the accused punched and whipped her with a belt until she began to cry before removing her underwear and raping her.
Hossain is currently in police custody, charged with one count of aggravated criminal assault.
