'Playboy' model is granted 'genius' US visa
Oscar Wilde famously had "nothing to declare but his genius", on his arrival in the US.
Not too many visitors have dared make such a bold claim since, but yesterday Shera Bechard, pictured right, the Canadian-born former girlfriend of Playboy Enterprises founder Hugh Hefner, was granted a special American visa on the grounds of being a "genius".
At first sight Ms Bechard would not be the most obvious candidate for the special visas that the US government reserves for "individuals with extraordinary ability", however, there is a lot more to Ms Berchard than meets the eye.
She started an online photo-sharing craze called "Frisky Friday," which was a runaway success, if not quite on the level of an "internationally recognised award, such as a Nobel Prize", which the US government cites as a possible qualification.
The visa is supposed to be good for three years, and can be extended.
