Bruce Jenner, the Olympic gold medallist and reality TV star, was involved in a multi-car crash in California that left one person dead and five others injured.

Jenner was apparently unhurt in the crash on the Pacific Coast Highway near Malibu.

The 65-year-old former athlete won gold in the decathlon at the 1976 Olympics, and later returned to the spotlight as the husband of Kris Jenner, matriarch of the Kardashian family and Kim Kardashian's stepfather.

In recent months, there has been widespread speculation that Jenner is preparing to undergo gender reassignment treatment. He is routinely pursued by paparazzi, and several websites posted pictures of the crash.

However, police said Jenner was not attempting to evade photographers at the time of the accident.
