Five-month-old twin girls were shot and killed in their mother's arms during a murder-suicide that unfolded in a home in Jacksonville, Florida.

Megan Hiatt (22), mother of the twins, was seriously injured in the shooting.

Gawain Rushane Wilson then shot Hiatt's father, Travis James Hiatt (49), before turning the gun on himself.

In the aftermath of the shooting Megan Hiatt told her mother:

"Mama, he killed them. He killed them in my arms.

"He made me hold them when he killed them. He made me watch.”

Hiatt’s mother, Melissa Bateh, told First Coast News that Wilson wanted to destroy her world.

"He wanted her to watch everything being destroyed," she said.

The victims' bodies were located in different rooms throughout a suburban house.

Police are still investigating the murder-suicide.

A Go Fund Me page has been established to fund raise for the funerals of the deceased.

So far, it has raised nearly $20,000 (€18,745) in donations.
