Looking to a slow-paced animal lovers dream job? Well you might be in luck.

A New York man is looking to hire “a responsible animal lover” to bring his 16-year-old tortoise, Henry, for walks in Central Park on warm weekdays.

The €9 an hour dream job was advertised on Craigslist yesterday and has since become an internet sensation and a much coveted job.

A successful applicant will need to be able to lift 16lbs – just over one stone – as the “surprisingly quick” tortoise will need to be lifted in and out of its stroller.

Yes, Henry the African Tortoise has a stroller.

Henry enjoys leisurely sun baked strolls in the heart of the big apple, but his owner declares that the sauntering tortoise doesn’t wear a leash.

No tortoise experience is necessary for the successful applicant though the prospective employer suggests that the tortoise walker “must be good with people” as they will get a lot of questions.

“If you're sociable and like to hang out in Central Park anyway, this is an easy gig,” they add.

The owner also describes Henry as “surprisingly energetic and fearless” adding that the “biggest thing to watch out for is him eating trash or kids trying to feed him.”

Henry is an African Tortoise, which are the third largest species of tortoise in the world.

These can live from anywhere from between 50-150 years.
