Hotel 'amnesty' for light-fingered guests
The iconic Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York is offering an amnesty to its light-fingered guests, writes Mark Hughes.
The luxurious hotel on Park Avenue in Manhattan is giving people the opportunity to return items they may have illicitly stowed in their suitcases upon departure -- with no questions asked.
The hotel is being tactful about how it describes the items, carefully avoiding the world "stolen", referring to them as having been "secretly checked out".
Items returned so far include cutlery, trinkets and even a "do not disturb" sign pilfered by a couple on their wedding night. Surprise packages have come from throughout the US. (© Daily Telegraph, London)
