Gingrich hints at exit from Republican race
Newt Gingrich hinted yesterday that he will soon give up on his now-futile quest to win the Republican presidential nomination as Mitt Romney, the presumptive winner, switched his campaign into full general election mode.
Mr Gingrich said that he would take a "deep look" at his position after five more states -- New York, Connecticut, Delaware, Rhode Island and Pennsylvania -- had voted last night in the primary process.
Mr Romney, who has an unassailable lead after his main rival Rick Santorum dropped out earlier this month, is already focusing his attacks on the "failed four years" of President Barack Obama's first term.
"I think we need to take a deep look at what we are doing," said Mr Gingrich who has ignored calls to drop out. (© Daily Telegraph, London)
