Former US reality star Toby Willis pleads guilty to four counts of child rape
Former American reality tv star Toby Willis has pleaded guilty to four counts of child rape and faces a 40 year prison sentence..
Willis (47) starred on TLC's The Willis Family, appeared in court in Tennessee and was given two 25-year sentences on two of the counts and 40-year sentences on the other two.
He will serve the sentences concurrently and in their entirety,
Willis is a father of 12 and featured on The Willis Family from 2015 to 2016, it documented their musical pursuits after featuring on America's Got Talen in 2014.
It was cancelled after two seasons, before he was arrested. In 2016, Willis was investigated in connection with a 12-year-old sexual abuse case, when the complainant was between three and 13 years old.
He was charged with one count of rape of a child and three further charges were added while he was in police custody.
The family have released a statement thanking the public for their support during "this most difficult year."
"Additionally, the Willis family would like to thank the many members of law enforcement for their detailed and comprehensive investigation of this matter," they said.
"Finally, the family would like to thank the District Attorney’s office for their diligence and sensitivity in the handling of this case. The family has remained fully cooperative throughout the investigation.
"Although the criminal case has concluded with Toby Willis receiving 40 years for the crimes he committed, the impact on the victims will remain much longer. The family is appreciative and grateful that people have respected their need for privacy during this trying time and asks for continued respect as they seek to move forward."
