Couple tortured maid

A Hong Kong couple have been jailed for torturing, beating and abusing their Indonesian maid, who said they once dressed her in a nappy and tied her to a chair for five days.

Tai Chi-wai (42) was jailed for three years and three months and his wife, Catherine Au Yuk-shan (41), got five-and-a-half years.


Thieves in northern Italy broke into a prison and made off with a safe containing thousands of euro.

The audacious theft occurred at the prison in Pavia, near Milan, daily 'Corriere della Sera' said.
