Caught on camera: Two people critical after house explodes in New Jersey Newsdesk and Agencies

A natural gas explosion levelled a house and injured 15 people, two critically, has been caught on camera.

Seven of those injured in the explosion, which took place after a gas main break on Tuesday, were gas company workers trying to locate the source of a leak that filled the neighbourhood with a strong gas smell.

Two of them were in critical condition at a hospital in Atlantic City. Six firefighters and two emergency medical service technicians also were injured, sustaining concussion-like symptoms from the shock wave.

The wave knocked several people off their feet and damaged their eardrums. The two people who were critically injured during the explosion were within 20 feet of the house when it exploded.

A number of neighbouring houses were also badly damaged during the explosion, while houses streets away had also reported minor damage.
