A 911 operator told a rape victim to 'quit crying' as she reported her ordeal.

The 20-year-old Ohio woman told the operator: "A small male, white boy with a white shirt. Immediately arrest him, I'm nervous."

However she got a less-than-sympathetic response, with the operator saying: "Ma'am you're going to have to quit crying," she said. "So I can get the information from you."

The victim became even more upset by the response, and said: "Don't you understand how horrified I am ... I don't know the kind of things you deal with every day, but the kind of sympathy you have now is zero."

Police have charged a 30-year-old man with rape and burglary in relation to the attack.

A 911 supervisor has said that the call could have been handled in a better fashion - however the operator will not face any disciplinary action.
