Paris counter-terrorism unit investigate shooting of two police officers in La Reunion
The Paris prosecutor's counter-terrorism section has opened an investigation after two police officers were wounded on Thursday morning by a gunman on the French overseas territory of La Reunion, a judicial source said.
"This morning, two policemen in La Reunion were wounded while arresting a dangerous individual," a local police statement said.
"After responding to shots, the policemen managed to restrain the assailant," it added.
Various weapons and ingredients used to make Molotov cocktails were found at the flat of the man suspected of wounding the two police officers.
Interior Minister Matthias Fekl said in a statement that the suspect's mother had also been arrested as part of the investigation, along with her son.
