Four die after lightning bolt hits wedding
A LIGHTNING strike at a wedding in a village in Mauritania has left four people dead, an eyewitness at the ceremony said yesterday.
Wedding guest El Hadi Ould Mohamed said the lightning bolt struck the festivities yesterday morning, killing two women and two men who were attending the nuptials.
Mr Mohamed said two other people were burned by the lightning and taken to a hospital near the village of Idini, which is some 65km east of Nouakchott, the capital.
He said that neither the bride nor the groom was killed or injured in the incident.
The West African nation has been lashed by heavy rains in the past week.
